What we did this year
- Term 1:
- Visit from the Life Education Trust in February
- Home-School Partnership welcome-back barbeque, in February
- Our students produced an end-of-term Creativity Showcase, under Whaea Jo's expert supervision
- March to May: Board of Trustees elections
- Term 2:
- Learning theme: Space - visit to Carter Observatory
- Swimming lessons at Kilbirnie Regional Aquatic Centre
- Fundraising and planning continues for school pool upgrade
- Term 3:
- Learning theme: The Pacific - visit to tapa cloth exhibition at Te Papa
- School photos
- Water safety training
- School disco in the evening of 17 September, with the children performing a Sasa and a parade of Pactific masks made in class, and a traditional dance by two of our Pacific girls
- Term 4:
- Learning theme: Learning About Wellington (education outside the classroom)
- Field trips to notable Wellington places, such as the Museum of City and Sea, Capital E and Te Papa
- Swimming lessons at Kilbirnie Regional Aquatic Centre
- 21 October: School production 'Pinocchio' – a grand success, involving the whole school
- Parent-teacher interviews
- Christmas raffle, fundraising for school pool upgrade
- End of school year marked with a final assembly – parents and others who contributed to the school's activities for the year were invited, and thanked with a morning tea
- Our year 6 leavers celebrated the close of their primary school education at our traditional Leavers Dinner
- Regular visits from the Duffy 'Books In Schools' programme
- Furthering the gradual upgrade of the school's facilities, particularly our school fencing and gates.
